Guide to Tailor-fit Harness to Your Dog

Master the Perfect Fit: Our 5-Step Tailor-Fitting Guide

A harness is only as good as its fit. Follow our signature process to ensure your dog enjoys total freedom of movement, zero chafing and maximum security.

Before You Start: Know Your Gear

  • Y-Shaped Chest Piece: Designed to sit on the breastbone to distribute pulling force evenly across your dog's body.

  • Four Adjustment Points: Located on the neck and chest to customise the strap lengths.

  • The 5th Point (TruFit Freedom™ only): A unique adjustment under the chest to prevent armpit rub.

  • Control Handle & Reinforced Leash Rings: Located on the back for maximum security and control.

The 5-Step Fitting Process

Step 1: The Initial Try-On

Unclip the neck and chest buckles. Secure the neck strap first, then bring the chest straps behind the front legs and buckle. If it feels too tight to clip, loosen the straps slightly before moving on.

Step 2: Assess the "Key Zones"

  • The Throat: The front 'V' must sit on the breastbone, never on the soft tissue of the neck.

  • The Armpits (Clearance Zone): Ensure at least a 2 cm gap between the front legs and the chest strap. If it’s too close, loosen the neck straps to shift the harness further back.

  • The Two-Finger Rule: You should be able to slide two fingers snugly under every strap. If the harness sways, it’s too loose; if you can’t fit your fingers, it’s too tight.

Step 3: Adjust Using 'Feed and Pull'

Use the sliders to lengthen (feed toward the buckle) or shorten (feed away from the buckle) the straps.

  • Pro-Tip #1: Keep strap lengths equal on both the left and right sides to keep the harness centred and protect your dog’s spine.

  • Pro-Tip #2: In order to easily adjust the neck strap, it is best to remove it from the loop on the Chest Piece.

TruFit Freedom™ Users: Adjust your 5th point now to lock in that perfect armpit clearance.

Step 4: Secure with GripLock™ Bands

Once you’ve dialed in the perfect fit, slide the GripLock™ Bands over the sliders. This prevents the straps from "creeping" or loosening, even during the most intense zoomies.

Step 5: The Final Movement Test

Test the harness indoors first. Watch your dog move; they should have a full, natural stride with no signs of rubbing. Double-check that all buckles are secure and straps are tucked.
